Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the hymnography of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross aspreserved in the Supraśl Liturgical Anthologion compiled by Mateusz Dziesiąty (Matthew the Tenth)in 1507. It demonstrates how the festal texts construct typological and theological connections between the Old and New Testaments, presenting the paradoxical image of the Cross as the Tree of Lifeand actualizing the Orthodox concept of liturgical time as a real participation in salvific events. Theanalysis encompasses Old Testament prefigurations of the Cross, the symbolism of the Tree of Life, metaphors of victorious weaponry, and the distinctive liturgical structure of the feast. Particular atten-tion is devoted to the role of the liturgical ‘today’ and ‘now’, which enable the faithful to authenticallyparticipate in the mysteries being celebrated. The study concludes that the Cross—transformed froman instrument of shame into a sign of glory—constitutes the center of Christian spirituality, identity, and hope in the Orthodox tradition. Its liturgical celebration transcends historical commemoration, uniting believers across time through the transformative power of worship.
