Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of the development of the cult of the Immaculate Con- ception in the contemporary Greater Poland Voivodeship, providing evidence of its existence even before the proclamation of the dogma in 1854. The first part outlines the historical evolution of this theological truth, tracing its development from Christian antiquity through the rulings of 13th and 14th-century theologians and the decisions of the Council of Basel. The subsequent sections ex- plore the reception of the mystery of the Immaculate Conception in popular piety and Christian life. The cult in question manifested in various forms across numerous parishes in Greater Poland, with significant evidence found in churches dedicated to this cause. Additionally, altars, paintings, and sculptures honouring Mary Immaculate further illustrate this devotion. The article also highlights examples of brotherhoods that united the faithful and strengthened belief in the Immaculate Con- ception. The development of the cult in Greater Poland reveals a diverse acceptance of the mystery of Mary’s conception, honouring both the mystery itself and Mary, who was granted this privilege.
