Summary/Abstract: This article examines the formation of the communist elite in Mureș County between 1944 and 1948, drawing on archival records of the Romanian Communist Party. It reconstructs the local power structure and the socio-demographic profile of key activists by examining their social origins, educational background, professional trajectories, and political careers. The analysis reveals the ethnic, social, and occupational composition of the Party’s leadership. The research sheds light on the mechanisms through which political authority was established and consolidated at the local level in the early phase of Romania’s communist regime.
