Summary/Abstract: Being a philologist, I’ve heard countless times that the humanities have no future anymore, or that they were never real sciences to begin with. Although my replies were grounded in the arguments of prominent figures from the ‘hard’ sciences—people who understood the complementarity between the humanities and the fields under the STEM umbrella—my responses were most often met with a refusal to even be taken into consideration.
