Summary/Abstract: The article explores the Jewish presence in Bulgarian cinema – both through the works of artists of Jewish descent and through films depicting the life and fate of Jews in Bulgaria. It traces the main periods in the development of Bulgarian cinematography: from the first cinemas and film entrepreneurs at the beginning of the 20th century, through the impact of World War II and the communist regime on cinema, to the post-totalitarian attempts for a more objective representation of historical events. The historical and cultural aspects of the topic are examined, including the influence of political regimes on the interpretation of events such as the Holocaust and the rescue of Bulgarian Jews. Key documentary and feature films are analyzed, highlighting the role of cinema in preserving historical memory and promoting tolerance.
