Summary/Abstract: Communication is important in the language classroom and not only. What is the link between communication and memory and how do they relate. This article discusses some ideas on this issue and at the same time tries to go deeper and find some explanations levels of memory, behavior and communication.Language is a mystery and it rides on a deeper, broader one called ‘memory’. Communication and memory are deeply intertwined; while memory is required for language comprehension and speech production, communication is a tool to aid memory. Techniques like clear, simple language, patience, and open-ended questions improve communication for those with memory loss, while communication itself—like speaking aloud—can help encode memories into long-term storage.
