Summary/Abstract: This article explores the lexical family of fleur (flower) by analysing its morphology, semantics and interdisciplinary circulation. It traces the Latin origin of the root (flos, floris), its phonetic evolution and the coexistence of popular forms (fleur, fleurir) and scholarly forms (floral, floriculture). The wealth of suffixal, prefixal and compound derivations illustrates the lexical productivity and morphological creativity of the French language. Floral vocabulary proves to be both a heuristic and symbolic tool, used in the exact sciences, the humanities and social sciences, as well as in literature and popular culture. This study highlights how floral vocabulary constitutes a genuine instrument of mediation between scientific language, poetic imagination and cultural cognition.
