THE APPLICATION OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN SPANISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN SERBIA

Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the role of authentic materials in Spanish language teaching in Serbia. Statistically analysed results from questionnaire-based surveys administered to primary school students and Spanish language teachers indicate that both groups hold positive attitudes toward the use of authentic materials. The findings reveal that teachers, recognizing the multiple benefits of these resources, actively integrate them into their instructional practice. Authentic materials not only enhance student motivation but also foster the development of communicative competence. These results underscore the didactic value of authentic materials and highlight the need for their wider implementation, accompanied by teacher training programs and professional development seminars to support their effective use.
