The contribution of the Divine Word Missionaries to the development of the Archdiocese of Warmia in the years 1945–2019

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the involvement of Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) in pastoral work in the Diocese of Warmia from the end of World War II (1945) until 2019. During this period,they served sixteen parishes on a permanent or temporary basis, undertaking the difficult task of rebuilding churches in most of them (Pieniężno, Łajsy, Długobór, Płoskinia, Piotrowiec,Tolkowiec, Radziejów, Lechów, Mingajny, Henrykowo, Żytkiejmy). They also worked as vicars in several parishes, undertook teaching duties as professors at the Hosianum Higher Seminary, and served as experts in the Warmia Bishop’s Curia and the Bishop’s Court.
