Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the historiographic work of modern Ukrainian scientists on the issues of psychohistorical studies and the use of methods and approaches of Western psychohistory on the material of Ukrainian history. The author of this survey doesn’t aim to cover all aspects of psychohistorical research, but focuses her attention only on those works that most fully represent a certain immersion in the thematic area. The researcher comes to the conclusion that despite the fact that the potential of psychohistorical studies is used fragmentarily by domestic scientists, at the modern stage the importance and interest in psychohistory is growing. The most common practice of using psychoanalysis in psychohistorical research in modern Ukrainian historiography is psychobiography. It is noted that interdisciplinary studies that combine historical, psychological and biographical approaches are not a typical and widespread phenomenon in domestic historiography. The main argument of the opponents of this direction is to emphasize the fact that the historian who analyzes the texts is not a psychologist-analyst and does not know the methods of psychoanalysis, and accordingly mistakes and unsubstantiated interpretations will be assumed. It is indicated that the considered questions of the theory and practice of psychohistory, which have become the subject of consideration by national scientists, do not exhaust the entire complex of conceptual tasks facing modern Ukrainian psychohistory. However, even a short historiographical discourse shows that psychohistory as an independent direction of scientific research in Ukraine is more and more actively entering the spac of modern humanitarian knowledge and has significant potential for continuing development in the future.
