Summary/Abstract: In his book Nie tylko dla dzieci. Studio Filmów Rysunkowych w Bielsku-Białej 1947-2021 [Not Just for Children: Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała 1947-2021], Patryk Oczko presents seventy-four years of the history of the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała. The monograph is a study of secondary data, mainly from periodicals, supplemented with in-depth interviews with creative workers and descriptions of several hundred films. The author reconstructs the perspective of the studio’s community, exploring the foundational tensions between serial productions and individual titles, between films made in different techniques, and between the Bielsko-Biała studio and other foci of the Polish animation world. The book is a valuable source of knowledge about Polish animation, showing AFS as an important node of the ecosystem, marked by both the dialectic of the autonomy of art and the heteronomy of the media industry, as well as the complex relations between the centre and the periphery of the world of filmmaking.
