FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF ELIZABETHGRAD IN THE 19TH - EARLY 20TH CENTURIES IN THE STATE ARCHIVES OF THE KIROVOGRAD REGION (PRINCIPLES OF DOCUMENT SYSTEMAZATION)

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the archival funds of Yelysavetgrad educational institutions of the 19th - early 20th centuries, which are stored in the State Archive of the Kirovohrad Region, in particular, the Yelysavetgrad Commercial School Bonch-Bruevich, the Yelysavetgrad Second Commercial School, the city of Yelysavetgrad, Yelysavetgrad District, Odesa Governorate, the Yelysavetgrad Male Classical Gymnasium and M. D. Goslen Private Girls' Gymnasium", Yelysavetgrad, Yelysavetgrad County, Kherson Province. The main attention is paid to the analysis of the principles of systematization of documents in the context of the organization of archival information and its scientific value. Features of the formation of the funds of gymnasiums and schools in accordance with the classification of documents by content are presented. The study illuminates the historical development of the educational system of the region through the prism of archival sources, which allows a deeper understanding of the peculiarities of the organization of education and its role in the social life of Yelisavetgrad in the specified period. The funds of Yelisavetgrad educational institutions contain a significant amount of information materials that reveal the organization of the educational process, financial support, personnel issues and economic activity of schools and gymnasiums of the 19th - early 20th centuries. Recreate the history of education of the specified period with the help of administrative documents, conduct journals, personal files of students and teachers, as well as correspondence with leading institutions of that time. In the process of analyzing the case descriptions of the researched funds, the classification of documents by purpose was applied, which made it possible to group the units of preservation of funds into administrative, organizational, accounting and financial, reference and informational, personal official documents, as well as separate business correspondence. A diverse set of archival documents contributes to a deep understanding of the educational, cultural and social development of the modern region and stimulates further scientific research into the history of education in the Kirovohrad region. The largest 3 groups of documents related to the funds of Yelisavetgrad Zemstvo Real School, Yelisavetgrad Bonch-Bruevich Commercial School, Yelisavetgrad Second Commercial School, Yelisavetgrad Men's Classical Gymnasium, and M.D. Goslen Private Women's Gymnasium have been determined, including cases with personal documents; with financial and business documents; with educational documentation. The study of the funds of educational institutions of the Kirovohrad region of the 19th - early 20th centuries, stored in the State Archive of the Kirovohrad region, allowed the development of two main approaches to the systematization of documents within individual funds: chronological and thematic. The analysis of the structure of the studied descriptions proved that within one point documents are combined according to the following characteristics: by historical period; by academic and calendar years; documents of the same topic and documents of different topics, combined chronologically. The specified systematization of archival documents creates certain difficulties in information search, since archival documents from different classification groups are placed in one point. It has been proven that archival funds are an important source of information, as they preserve valuable documents that illuminate the development of education in the Kirovohrad region, motivating further scientific research.
