Summary/Abstract: Activities supporting people with disabilities are part of public tasks performed by NGOs. A significant area within this activity is the promotion of vocational reorientation and employment of people with disabilities. Local government units have also been entrusted with public tasks in vocational development of people with disabilities. They are expected to cooperate with NGOs in performing these tasks. Such cooperation includes, in particular, consultations with NGOs on acts of local law in areas of their statutory activity and delegating to NGOs tasks in the area of the vocational reorientation and social reintegration of people with disabilities on the terms set out in the Act of August 27, 1997 on vocational reorientation and social reintegration and employment of people with disabilities. It can also be demonstrated in the joint establishment of occupational therapy workshops and social cooperatives of people with disabilities. Cooperation between NGOs and local government in supporting the vocational activity of people with disabilities should be regarded as a necessary condition for achieving the goal of making it easier for people with disabilities to enter the labor market and to stay there despite barriers resulting from their disabilities.
