Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the comprehensive political concepts formulated by Frank Walter Steinmeier, the long‑time Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany and current President. The selection is limited to assumptions whose implications directly or indirectly affected Ukraine, as part of Berlin’s broader strategy towards Eastern Europe and Russia. The synthetic and thematic analysis of the assumptions of the New Eastern Policy, the European Eastern Policy, and the so‑called Steinmeier Formula, conceptualized in various forms between 2006 and 2019, is presented.
