Summary/Abstract: The term ‘Krakow School of Architecture’ defines the specifics of teaching at the Faculty of Architecture at the Krakow University of Technology as well as the environment of its professors, their work and aesthetic attitudes. It is an identity concept, positively valuing, albeit ambiguous. In order to clarify the specificity of the academic teaching of architecture in Krakow, the article recalls not only the beginnings of the Faculty of Architecture at the Krakow University of Technology after 1945, but also the beginnings of this faculty a century ago at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The figure of Professor Włodzimierz Gruszczyński (1906–1973), his creative path and didactic concepts are important here.
