Summary/Abstract: After World War II, Poland found itself within the sphere of influence of the Soviet Union. During the times of Stalinism, there were attempts at Sovietisation of the Polish science. Despite ideological pressure, fruitful studies were carried out in this difficult period in some areas of science. A lot was done in the research of medicine. Scientific exploration concerned paediatrics and some of the findings of the studies and research were published in the journal titled “Polish Paediatrics”. This journal was first published in the interwar period, and after WWII, it published papers both by specialists who had been active in the time of the Second Polish Republic, and by young physicians, whose scientific careers began after 1945. Various medical questions were discussed in “Polish Paediatrics”. Authors wrote about subjects that were the most frequently studied, including the physiology of nutrition, rickets, diabetes, gastrology, otolaryngology, neurology, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis, pulmonology, pertussis, diphtheria, scarlet fever, and surgery. The publications in “Polish Paediatrics” offer the general overview of the Polish research of children’s medicine in 1948–1956.
