Summary/Abstract: A type of onyms – anthroponyms, or proper names, represent a class of words that do not have a semantic structure, do not indicate a personal characteristic, and perform only nominative-cognitive, distinguishing (separating), and identifying functions in language. The purpose of the article is to conduct a meticulous study of I. Rozdobudko’s idiostyle, in particular, to analyze proper names – anthroponyms in the dilogy of the Ukrainian writer: to characterize the onyms by semantics, structure and origin, and to make the conclusions onto the modern Ukrainian anthroponym. Research methods. The research was carried out using the basic general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, linguistic methods – descriptive, structural, comparative-¬historical. The descriptive method generalized the factual material. The structural method contributed to the inventory and systematization of linguistic phenomena. The comparative-historical method shed light on the origin of nomens. Conclusions. Onyms are at the intersection of four branches of linguistics – onomastics, grammar, ethnolinguistics and text linguistics. In a literary text, proper names provide a textual category of reference, illustrate the chronotope (time-space), and «title» substantive-¬factual information. The plot line of the work is connected with anthroponyms. The author chooses the names of the characters in accordance with the place and time of action, the trends prevailing in society, and her own preferences. In I. Rozdobudko’s artistic dilogy a wide palette of anthroponyms is represented by different names (one-component, two-component, three-¬component), precedent names and nicknames of people. Among the names of people there are Ukrainian names, Greek and Latin names adapted in the Ukrainian language, which through the Church Slavonic language fell into Old Russian, and foreign names.
