Summary/Abstract: The present article focuses on demonstrating the importance of living in communion and intense communication with the people around us, however or whoever they may be, the importance of accepting the other, under the circumstances in which today’s European society is up against a deep economic, political and identity crisis, as well as a crisis of religious values. The European Union promotes the spirit of tolerance and the idea of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue represents the essential modality of preventing conflicts. At the end of the article, it is shown that Romanian cultural personalities of modern times have been in favour of alterity, multilinguism and multiculturalism.
