Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the most common difficulties that students face during their Korean language education. The very first difficulty they face is the Korean alphabet. Another peculiarity of the Korean language which is seen as a difficulty by many students is the sentence structure – the verb is placed at the end of the sentence. The abundance of particles, fixed phrases and verb conjugation forms is also a difficulty, and apart from verb conjugation, the Korean verb possesses other peculiarities as well, which students find difficult to learn. The lack of certain grammatical aspects in the Korean language compared to the Bulgarian language is yet another difficulty. For example, there is no grammatical gender or number in the Korean language which is a huge difficulty for students, especially when it comes to translating. The unique hierarchical formal structure of the language is also very difficult to learn and get used to using. The purpose of this paper is not to discuss the topic in detail but rather to simply mark the most common difficulties students face at the beginning of their Korean studies.
