Summary/Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the immediate effect of diaphragmatic breathing on heart rate directly after exercise. Methodology: a study was conducted with female students from Traкia University -Stara Zagora during the winter semester of the 2024/25 academic year. The contingent of the study are 269 female students, divided into two groups. Research as well as sociological methods (theoretical analysis, comparative analysis)have been applied. Results: The results of the measured maximum heart rate values in the diaphragmatic breathing (DB) group constitute a key point of interest. Notably, they did not indicate a decrease following one minute of diaphragmatic breathing – after the training, the measured pulse was 160 beats per minute and remained unchanged after one minute. For the group without DB, the heart rate decreased by 12.28 beats per minute, whereas in the group with DB, the decrease was 10.55 beats per minute. Apparently, one minute of diaphragmatic breathing does not play a significant role in lowering the heart rate. Conclusion: the present study examined the immediate effect of one-minute diaphragmatic breathing on heart rate directly after exercise. The findings did not reveal significantly lower heart rate values compared to the non-diaphragmatic breathing group. The results of this study provide guidance for future research and participation related to such tests.
