Summary/Abstract: Synchronized swimming is a unique sport in which movements are performed in or under water with prolonged periods of breath holding. Success in this sport is the result of a combination of different characteristics of the athletes: aerobic and anaerobic capacity, technical skills, artistry and, last but not least, good physical development and functionality. Physical development is the process of changing the natural morpho-functional properties of the body over time and, as such, is an important indicator of the health of children and adults, determined by internal factors and living conditions. Functional training characterizes the state of the main systems of the body and their working capacity. The most informative values, whose study represents the least difficulty, include heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP), respiratory rate (RR), and breath-holding time. This study aims to track changes in the physical development and functional training of artistic swimming competitors over a oneyear period. The study involved eight female competitors aged 12.1 ± 1.9 years at the beginning of the study. The findings show that under the influence of synchronized swimming training, the subjects’ results improved in all the studied indicators.
