Summary/Abstract: The collection of the 66 Lyric Pieces is among Grieg’s most representative and best-known works. He himself said: “The ten volumes of Lyric Pieces represent an intimate slice of my life.” Their analysis highlights the evolution of his compositional writing, given that they were created over the span of 34 years. The genre of the lyrical miniature was beloved by many Romantic composers, appreciated both for its programmatic character and for the emotional intensity and authenticity these pieces could convey. In these miniatures, one can feel the dual influence of his sources of inspiration: the tradition of German Romanticism, and the characteristics of Norwegian folk music, which form the foundation of the sonic, rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic structures of his compositions.
