Summary/Abstract: In reference to the research project carried out at the War Studies University (Akademia Sztuki Wojennej), the article reviews the latest Polish scholarship on the 1939 campaign. It also provides orientation in the much less extensive foreign scholarship (mainly British, American, German, and French) on this topic. It also presents an outline of the basic sources necessary to study the subject matter – archives, normative acts, diaries/memoirs, etc.
