Summary/Abstract: Bulgarian tourism is facing increasing competition between destinations, which necessitates the search for opportunities for diversification of tourism products. In this paper, diversification through event organization is proposed as a strategic method for increasing the competitiveness of the tourism sector. The main objective of the study is to present the types of events that contribute to the diversification of the tourism product. To achieve the set goal, the characteristics of the organized events are clarified, the main types of events related to the diversification of the tourism product are outlined, their features are clarified and a portfolio approach is presented as an opportunity for effective management of the destination through diversification.
