Summary/Abstract: The publication is focused on the scientific research of inflationary processes in Bulgaria after 2000. After a critical analysis of the results of the theoretical and empirical studies of inflation, and systematization of the results, three main problem areas have been identified, all in a macroeconomic plan. The first topic includes descriptive studies of price stability, dynamics and structure. The second topic focuses on the consequences of inflation for the economy and society, most often negative and related to suppression of investment activity and economic development, devaluation of income and savings, decline in living standards, deterioration of the financial condition of companies and budget deficit. The third direction emphases the factors determining inflationary processes, with the pro-inflationary factors being related to payment deficits, external factors, rising labour costs and economic uncertainty, while the deflationary factors being related to administrative regulation, stagnant consumer demand and the monetary policy of the central bank.
