Summary/Abstract: Kalisz; notaries; interwar period; Zbigniew Dulęba; Bolesław Zawadzki; notariat; judiciaryThe aim of the article is to present the profiles of two notaries from Kalisz: Zbigniew Dulęba (1883-1942) and Bolesław Zawadzki (1885-1938), who – previously not associated with Kalisz – as a result of various turbulences in their legal careers, crowned them in this city. The study is a contribution to the research on Kalisz notaries already discussed in the literature by Samanta Kowalska (“Notariat miasta Kalisza w dobie dwudziestolecia międzywojennego (1918-1939)”, Kalisz-Poznań 2012) and Grzegorz Waliś (“Notaries of Kalisz in the years 1808-1951”, Kalisz 2022). Recalling the figures of these two notaries is important to show that, in addition to their undoubted professionalism, political involvement was necessary to continue their careers in notaries. In addition, notaries are not only heartless lawyers who enjoy respect in society, but people of “flesh and blood” with emotions, jealousy and fight for the client.
