The income situation of local governments in Poland

Summary/Abstract: To evaluate the financial situation of municipalities it is important to examine changes in the size of income, its structure and the differences between provinces. The aim of the study is to analyze the sources of communities income, with particular emphasis on own income. Communities were divided into rural, urban-rural and urban.The study included the period 2007-2012. Values of incomes per inhabitant of the commune are different in every province. There were significantly different incomes in each type of commune. Own income of the communities were substantial in their budgets, but their share in total income declined during the considered period. Particularly unprofitable income structure had rural municipalities.
