Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is to examine senatorial statements and interpellations in terms of providing an answer to the question of whether the specified right of senators from the Senate of the Republic of Poland can be considered as quasi- -interpellation. The author of the text puts forward the thesis that senatorial statements, which initially constituted primarily a way of speaking during the work of the chamber, over time gained significant importance as a tool of parliamentary control over other state bodies. The article pays special attention to the issue of the proper understanding of the meaning of parliamentary control and scrutiny, including in the context of the role and position of the Second Chamber of the Polish Parliament. The author examines the assumptions of the analysed competences of parliamentarians, and also focuses on the proper presentation of their legal basis, while indicating the most important similarities and differences between senatorial statements and interpellations. The author also notes that the changes introduced over the years in the regulations concerning senatorial statements, as well as the evolution of the practice of their usage, which was particularly visible in the 10th term of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, have led to giving this competence a new, more controlling character. The changes indicated and the evolution of the discussed powers of senators meant that the statements became quite an important tool in the control process and also brought them much closer to interpellations.
