Summary/Abstract: This research investigates the role of the Chemical Analysis Laboratory for Milk Control in Bucharest in shaping administrative-sanitary practices related to urban nutrition at the beginning of the 20th century. The study will examine the factors that led to the establishment of this institution, emphasising the issues the Municipality sought to address, the activities conducted by the laboratory during its three-year tenure, and the tensions that arose among municipal health personnel due to its inception. This study examines the transformation of the Chemical Analysis Laboratory for Milk Control into a department within the Municipal Laboratory of Chemical-Bacteriological Analysis, as well as the subsequent activities of this department. The objective is to demonstrate that the restructuring in 1908 did not signify an abandonment of milk control; rather, in the years immediately following, these efforts were intensified.
