Summary/Abstract: The extension of the original, essentially egocentric self-concept of Gestalt therapy (id-, ego-, personality-function) by the inclusion of the social function of the self is not only important for understanding social integration processes, but also for explaining the relational origin of the self and its functioning. In order to research on the effectiveness of Gestalt therapy as a therapeutic method, it is therefore proposed to examine the methods that correspond to the various self-functions in terms of their respective significance for the therapy of psychological and psychosocial disorders.
