Summary/Abstract: In Northeastern Bulgaria, among the old Bulgarian population groups, the Kapan ethnographic group occupies a major place. Despite the complex historical and demographic processes characteristic of the region, the Kapan population managed to preserve and differentiate itself as a stable, compactly settled local group with a clearly expressed self-awareness, which is reflected in the very name „Kapanci". Including during the period (end of the 19th to mid-20th century).
