The Impact of Green Organizational Behavior and Environmental Awareness on Organizational Performance

Summary/Abstract: Green organizational behavior manifests when employees develop environmentally conscious attitudes and actions that support sustainability within business processes. Today, the rapid depletion of natural resources and increasing environmental issues compel companies to adopt sustainable approaches. In this context, adopting green behaviors in the environmentally-impactful textile industry is not only an environmental responsibility but also a strategic necessity for corporate success. The aim of this study, which was conducted on textile workers, is to determine the effect of green organizational behavior and environmental awareness on organizational performance. The sample consists of 522 individuals working in the textile sector in Istanbul, selected through a random sampling method. Utilizing a quantitative design, the research applied descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and a structural equation model (SEM) to identify relationships and test hypotheses. The study examined the impact of green organizational behavior and environmental awareness on organizational performance; the findings indicated that environmental sensitivity and employee participation positively influence performance. The adoption of green practices by employees is evaluated as a strong supporting factor in achieving the sustainability goals of organizations.
