Summary/Abstract: Introduction: The guiding idea of the analysed writings of Professor Irena Wojnar is the beliefthat the paramount challenges of today include: strengthening of the role of man as an agentdetermining objective processes, inspiration of various activities in order to restore the propersignificance of the universal values, implementation of humanistic education. Analyses of ar-guments in favour of up-to-dateness and mission of humanistic education, in consideration ofpresent-day reality, have identified diversified global threats, aggravating crisis of growth andaffluence, decline of the hierarchy of values, shortcomings of educational activities, contem-porary changes in philosophy, reconstruction of human identity and other challenges of thecoming years.Research Aim: This paper is intended to briefly present the humanistic aspects of pedagogypursued by Professor Wojnar, to present inspirations and assumptions of this approach to ped-agogy, and to discuss its specificity, as well as its growing significance in the consolidation of thehumanistic countenance of contemporary world. It was based on the analysis of texts, educa-tional achievements and initiatives in which the scholar was engaged, as well as her statementsgiven in the published interviews.Evidence-based facts: The first part of the paper, using traditional research methodology,highlights the underlying theses and concepts of the theory of aesthetic education/educationthrough art, inspired by the assumptions of culture pedagogy and supported by the human-istic learning theory. The second part attempts to outline selected elements of the concept ofhumanistic education, viewed as an instrument used in fighting in the defence of humanismand condition of the humankind, and creating educational conditions to ensure a better future.Summary: Professor Wojnar elevated the significance of humanistic education in the creationof the vision of the world, as well as intentions of humanism as a philosophy and world view;she outlines person-centred perspectives of education in the complex reality which is not trans-parent and full of diverse threats of growth and affluence.
