Overview of music education development in primary and middle schools in China

Summary/Abstract: Music education is an important part of the educational system oriented to quality. It has a unique educational value for encouraging the all-round development of students. First, the author determines the historical range of the music education in the obligatory education period, then explains its value from aesthetic education’s dimensions, cognitive development, and cultural inheritance. Finally analyses the current situation of the music education development in primary and middle schools in China based on political texts and workbook evolution.
