Summary/Abstract: Metaphor is a form of human language and represents one of the oldest modes of human thought. In its earliest form, music was nothing more than melody, and melody was nothing more than the sonic variation of speech. Accents formed the song; the duration of sound formed the rhythm; and syllables along with vocal intensity constituted the force of speech. Humans use their imagination and possess the ability to think through images or metaphors. Metaphor is a universal language of humankind and serves as one of the fundamental psychological and cognitive frameworks of thought.
