Cooperation and successful partnership between the public and the private sector for sustainable development of culture and tourism

Summary/Abstract: Plovdiv possesses invaluable cultural layers and a living contemporary cultural diaspora but this does not guarantee cultural prosperity and a higher standard of living of the population, owing to the lack of personified responsibility towards the cultural monuments owned by the municipality and the state which determine our national identity. We have easily rejected the opportunity to define ourselves as a city linking the High cultures of several Middle-Eastern empires and the culture of modern Europe and to fulfill this role in the existing conditions nowadays. The pilot project of Trakart has shown sustainability and has proven that the public-private partnerships can be a very important element of the society which can contribute to the permanent strengthening of our cultural heritage and turn it into a tourist product to be used in the formation of the modern cultural and informational reality.
