Summary/Abstract: Road accidents are not simple random events, but the result of a combination of interdependent factors: human, technical, road-environment related, and others. The human factor is identified as the main element, determining the situations that lead to accidents and, at the same time, bearing their consequences. However, besides the human factor—whether we speak of drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists, or pedestrians—there are also other factors, referred to as secondary in the production of road accidents, such as: (the means of transport and inadequate road/access ways); favorable factors (weather conditions, level of luminosity, speed, state of health etc.). Road crime has long been a major global issue, with devastating effects on people’s health and lives, as well as on the economy, estimated at 2% of the EU’s GDP.
