Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the Bulgarian reception of Laurence Sterne, focusing on the 1981 translation of “A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy” by Yordan Kosturkov. It outlines Sterne’s deviation from Enlightenment conventions through his experimental narrative and sentimentality, and explores how these features have been interpreted in Bulgarian literary and academic discourse. The study argues for greater attention to Sterne’s work in translation and scholarship, particularly his major novel “The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman”, which remains untranslated
