Summary/Abstract: The paper examines Ottó Tolnai’s Rovarház (Insect House) within the theoretical framework of biopoetics, focusing on the literary representations of plant, animal, and human bodies Biopoetics belongs to those approaches that seek a deeper understanding of the interconnections and interactions between humans and nature. In Tolnai’s works insects, plants, the human body and living matter embodied in the form of decaying nature actively shapes the world of the text and creates a new, non-anthropocentric perspective. The aim of the analysis is to explore how biological existence and human experience are interconnected, as well as how traditional boundaries between humans and their environment can be put into question. The analysis also integrates the theoretical framework of ecocriticism, whose application proved particularly relevant when examining the garden-related passages of the texts.
