Summary/Abstract: Recent archaeological and geophysical research carried out at the well-known site of Târpești–Râpa lui Bodai (Neamț County) has confirmed that this multi-layered settlement is much larger than was estimated during the systematic excavations of the 1960s. This article presents the results of a recent archaeological test trench carried out at the eastern part of the site. Although only a small area was excavated, interesting remains were discovered, covering a wide chronological range, from the Neolithic to the second half of the first millennium AD. New elements compared to what was previously known about the cultural situation within this multi-layered settlement include the presence of the remains attributed to the Costișa communities, as well as the existence of a grave that can be attributed to the Sarmatians. An interesting archaeological feature is represented by the stone oven and a portion of a dwelling attributed to the 6th–7th centuries AD. Two absolute dates were also obtained for this site, which help establish chronological landmarks for the Late Bronze Age and for the ancient communities that frequented this area.
