Summary/Abstract: The Dayton Agreements propose an administrative division of Bosnia and Herzegovina into two entities based on ethnoreligious criteria: on one side, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, composed mainly of Croats and Bosnians; on the other, the Respublika Srpska, composed mainly of Serbs. Thirty years later, the latter has become one of the major obstacles to the normal – and already complex – functioning of the State. The actions of its government raise a multitude of questions, including the very definition of Bosnian nationality and the future of the State itself, which faces the constant threat of secession from this turbulent entity that presents itself with the trappings of a State.
