Summary/Abstract: Work safety means no threat to human life, health, and well-being while performing work, regardless of where it is performed. As such, work safety is a phenomenon that cannot be directly observed. The aim of this article is to identify safety factors in the workplace and to create a model that links these factors to work safety and that could be used to study it. Based on literature studies and consultations with practitioners, 25 work safety indicators were identified and divided into seven categories: external conditions, internal conditions, internal safety systems, safety culture, effects on the health, life, and well-being of employees, economic effects, and subjective assessment of work safety. Some of these indicators are factors that shape work safety, while others reflect its status. Their analysis enables both a multidimensional and synthetic assessment of the state of safety in a specific workplace, industry, or economy.
