Summary/Abstract: This paper offers a concise analysis of the relationship between philosophical theory and everyday practice in Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations (PI). It is grounded in the later Wittgenstein’s emphasis on the use of language and his consequent prioritization of the pragmatic over the semantic. Building on these ideas and their application in the development of a new method of philosophical therapy, the paper focuses on the initial remarks on philosophy in the PI, particularly on the statement in §38 that philosophical problems arise when language „goes on holiday“. By contrasting this notion of language „going on holidayЍ“ with the workings of language, the paper argues that philosophical problems do not stem from language itself–when language is actively „doing work“ in real linguistic situations–but rather from its metaphysical misuse, which disregards any situational context. In conclusion, the paper addresses the question of whether philosophy can constitute its own language game, ultimately offering a negative response.
