Summary/Abstract: The aim of the text is to present the situation of the Polish National Catholic Church (PNCC) in Poland during the years 1931 – 1951. (A religious denomination organized in the late 19th century in the United States of America by Polish immigrant Bishop Franciszek Hodur.) It also discusses the work of Bishop Józef Padewski during the period 1931 – 1951. The main topics addressed in the text include: the ministry of Bishop Józef Padewski, his ecclesiastical and social activities, the challenges he faced during World War II, the situation of the PNCC after the war, as well as the bishop’s arrest and his death in the custody of the state authorities of the Polish People’s Republic.
