Summary/Abstract: Although the title suggests a monographic work, the book is more than that. Its pages bear witness to the customs and deeds of Romanian villages and, at the same time, recall the high ideal and the constant struggle of the villagers carried in those politically and socially turbulent times. I am completely surprised and delighted by Professor Valentin-Stelian Bădescu’s work. Although he did not graduate from a historical or social higher education institution, he has achieved great things in the field of Romanian sociology and history in his mature years. Through his work, he ranks among the well-known authors of monographs, each of whom has made special contributions to this field of social life.
