Summary/Abstract: In the new era of medical travel, only those who know the needs and expectations of their patients and have appropriate strategies in place to meet those needs will be able to create a sustainable business. Acquisition of competencies and receiving targeted training in medical tourism is a prerequisite for the development of the sector. The study raises the topic of the need to build a sustainable competence model in medical tourism education, which will allow those working in the sector to overcome the barriers to its development and turn it into an attractive opportunity to achieve prevention and preserve the health of visitors. Medical tourism training is the bridge that medical professionals and other stakeholders must consciously cross in order to be able to acquire these competencies that will provide treatment combined with the experience of patients-tourists for the benefit of their well-being.
