Summary/Abstract: This study explores the models of holiness in Eugene Vodolazkin’s novel Laurus, focusing on its genre structure and hagiographic layers. The aim is to propose a new concept of contemporary sanctity through the fictional character of Arseny/Laurus, who embodies both monastic and martyrdom ethoses. The central thesis of the study is that the novel operates as a martyrdom hagiography, employing a postmodern approach to traditional saintly narratives. The study’s contribution is the identification of new dimensions of the spiritual journey through a biblical thematic key and the application of exegetical techniques to interpret symbolic topoi, enriching the understanding of holiness as a dynamic path to salvation.
