Summary/Abstract: The study is devoted to the foundation of the review the Witness, founded by Pavel Tigrid. Twomembers of the first editorial board, Radomír Luža and Josef Jonáš, made a major contributionto the form of this reviwe. At the same time, the excerpts from the personal estate of Jiří Lederer, stored in the Libri Prohibiti library in Prague, have been used to document the close relationshipof persons of Czechoslovak exile, living in different countries, to this review and its significancefor the Czechoslovak citizens to whom it was dedicated.
