Summary/Abstract: Ethnographic Insights into the Role of Daily Leisure in Well-Being Among Kunming's Silver-Haired Generation. This ethnographic study examines how leisure activities in Kunming’s parks increase happiness among adults aged 60– 70. Drawing on immersive participant observation and 23 in-depth interviews, the research demonstrates that park practices extend beyond recreation to become essential sites of social belonging, identity affirmation, and cultural continuity. Participants reveal that their well-being is nurtured through a dynamic interplay of psychological needs (mastery, autonomy, emotional connection), environmental affordances, and communal dynamics that foster “third places” and collective identity. The integration of traditional practices (tai chi, calligraphy) with modern leisure forms supports both cultural preservation and adaptive growth. The findings underscore the importance of culturally sensitive, accessible public spaces in promoting holistic, socially embedded well-being.
