Summary/Abstract: Social media occupies a significant place in individuals’ daily lives, and the content they are exposed to directly influences their psychological processes. The legitimization of criminal behaviors exhibited by social media influencers may affect individuals’ psychological well-being and life satisfaction. This study examines the impact of legitimizing crime on psychological well-being and life satisfaction, as well as the moderating roles of nomophobia and social media use in this relationship. Data were collected online from 274 participants aged between 18 and 55. Participants were presented with a manipulation text, followed by the administration of a Demographic Information Form, the Psychological Well-Being Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Nomophobia Scale. The data were analyzed using Jamovi version 2.6.26. The findings revealed significant differences in psychological well-being, life satisfaction, and nomophobia depending on the legitimization of crime. Moreover, social media use was found to have a significant effect on these variables. The results are expected to contribute to the literature regarding the criminal behaviors of social media influencers, a relatively new area of research.
